2020 Nissan Versa Near Lowell MA

Overview

As long as it's been around, Nissan's Versa has been synonymous with affordability and simplicity. With this emphasis on the basics, though, attractive styling and the latest tech may not have been at the forefront of this subcompact's design. That is all about to change later this summer, though, as Nissan has made significant changes to it and will finally unveil the all-new, notably stylish 2020 Versa. The Versa will now come exclusively as a sedan, as the Versa Note hatchback is no longer being made (the Kicks took its place in the lineup).

This new generation is better equipped and more aesthetically pleasing than ever. Highlighting this new design is an attractive V-motion grille, along with streamlined LED headlights and taillights, halogen fog lights, a more rounded body, and a swept-back A-pillar that gives the roofline a lower-slung and sportier appearance. Inside, the '20 Versa gets improved styling and tech even at its base level, which will surely help it stand out amongst rival subcompacts.

Performance and Fuel Economy

The redesigned Versa has also been upgraded under the hood, with a new 1.6-liter I-4 engine (122 horsepower), which is up from last year's 109. What's more, the engine can be paired to either a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. In terms of fuel economy, while the official numbers have yet to be released, it follows that since the Versa shares its platform with the Kicks, it should exceed 40 mpg on the highway like that model does.

Driver Assistance and Convenient Tech

The '20 Versa will offer advanced safety aids that were unavailable on its predecessors. The base trim will come with driver assist features such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, front and rear automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beams, and lane departure warning. The Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of advanced safety features, which consists of adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert, will be offered as an add-on.

The new Versa will also incorporate technology that helps the driver feel more connected to their vehicle, such as the completely customizable digital information display. This feature allows personalization of everything from their playlists to their fuel economy history and lets it be managed all in one place. Aside from that, keyless entry and ignition will also be standard, while automatic climate control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and heated front seats will be options. Other available amenities include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and adaptive cruise control. Nissan has made it a point to offer more in terms of standard equipment upfront with their base trims. Nissan wants to make sure that everyone, regardless of their budget, has access to these exciting attributes.
